“Play is the highest form of research” (Albert Einstein?)
This studio taps on an emerging movement in recent years that seeks to look for, and empower the problem solvers of the future. Children are already designers, creative individuals who create solutions for themselves and the world around them. Design practitioners can join kids and work with them, opening them up to new ideas, technology and design thinking and help them develop their creative thinking through making.
Students in this studio will engage with the following topics- toy hacking modding and DIY, toys from trash, educational toys, science for kids, social making platforms, Instructables, open source design, co-creation and more through a series of fun assignments done in groups and as individuals. You will learn to develop a unique process of design, by working meticulously through the brief, conducting research and creating outcomes, ending up with a pitch project for FixCamp, a stem of British project FixEd.
Students who wish to participate in this studio are required to be passionate, critical, open minded and committed to the process, to provide feedback and engage in conversation with themselves and their peers.
