Jessica Bird is a designer and researcher motivated by working collaboratively to affect change. Since graduating with honours from Industrial Design, Jess has taught at RMIT and worked as a Project Facilitator at the Victorian Eco-Innovation Lab (VEIL) at University of Melbourne. She is currently the Co-design Lead at VicRoads and is focused on facilitating the design of future services and customer experiences.

Jess has experience leading design studios, working with local councils and communities, facilitating design workshops, producing exhibitions and publications, and researching and collaborating on a broad range of projects.

With a design and teaching interest in sustainable systems and services design, her current research themes include community-led resilience to climate change and participatory design approaches. Jess takes an action-research approach to the work that she does. She is interested in ‘how things work’ and how visually mapping systems can act as a powerful part of the design process.
