The technocentric future of Artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) is, for most people, a scenario of a dystopian march of technology over humanity. For Industrial designers, it is a frontier of possibility.
In the last decade, we have witnessed the introduction of assistive and interactive technologies. Digital Assistants such as Siri, Cortana and Alexa have become part of our Digital devices. Google Home has presented us with new “inert” designed products and created a product footprint for digital interfaces without Laptops and smartphones. Robot Vacuum cleaners and Lawnmowers work independently with limited agendas. Ikea has introduced a range of Electronic and lighting products that start to create integrated interaction in domestic environments for the general population.
The current Interactive ecosystems lack induvidual product intelligence and ability to initiate interventions and to interact with people, other ‘dumb’ devices or each other. This studio will focus on designing consumer-level Droid Assistants for the next decade that embody the reimagined domestic environments with new active robot participants.
You will be working with CAD in a BYOD scenario in a bid to improve and increase your own digital augmentation.
