Lecturers: Dr Scott Mitchell and Scott Brewer

This studio is industry partnered with Art Processors (designers of ‘the O’ visitor experience at MONA). The studio asks students to design a new visitor experience for the RMIT Design Hub Gallery. Students will be supported in the design of a device, system or object, that acts as a personal companion for visitors, helping visitors to navigate the spatial and contextual elements of an exhibition. At the completion of the semester, Art Processors will offer one outstanding student an internship at their Melbourne offices where visitor engagement will be further developed for deployment in the ‘Object Politics’ exhibition scheduled to open at the Design Hub Gallery in August 2020. The studio will make extensive use of prototyping tools such as Adobe XD, Blynk, Arduino and Particle. The studio will begin with a 2-day intensive workshop conducted by Scott Brewer (Art Processes), to be followed by weekly 3 hr classes with Scott Mitchell (RMIT) and regular online meetings with Scott Brewer.

The intensive workshop is scheduled for Sat 14 and Sun 15 March. If you are unable to attend this intensive workshop you should speak to Scott Mitchell before enrolling in this studio. Questions regarding the studio can be addressed to scott.mitchell@rmit.edu.au
