Justin has been an active participant in the Melbourne design industry for the last decade. His ongoing involvement has brought together a number of experimental collaborations around the themes of ‘place making’ and ‘sustainability’.

Justin has lectured extensively in product-design engineering and furniture design at Swinburne University and continues to run a mentoring program from his studio at the Abbotsford Convent, Melbourne. He has also completed his Diploma in Sustainability at Swinburne University and is currently advising on environmental sustainability design principles for the Abbotsford Convent Foundation.

Justin Hutchinson is the director of JHD, an industrial design consultancy that provides detailed design and manufacturing solutions for the urban, landscape, and architectural design industries. He has most recently completed urban renewal works for Yarra City Council, and has previously been involved with landmark projects at Federation Square and Waterfront City, Docklands.
