STUDIO EDGE2EDGE aims to design “furniture” to initiate a dialogue between design manufacturing and community skills. The main focus of this studio is to develop a stronger understanding of the design process from a concept to the complete product. Students will research tessellated patterns, design a large scale 1:1 prototypes seating furniture. The design ideas will be based fundamentally on using tessellation, geometric forms, modular pieces, innovative construction methods using CAD, laser cutting and manufacturing process modelling.
STUDIO EDGE2EDGE aims to develop local craft skills for our client organisation in Timor Leste to use in the production and manufacturing. It is hope that this collaboration will have a global effect. After all, design has the power to make our everyday lives more comfortable, more efficient, more exciting, more rewarding, and more fun.
