Dr Areli Avendaño Franco is a lecturer in Industrial Design with expertise on environmental and social design for sustainability. Her research and teaching interest include design practice as well as design thinking for social problems, humanitarian design, social innovation and service design, and business innovation.

Recent research and industry projects range from packaging sustainability, design management for innovative business models, design for health, design thinking in humanitarian aid education.
